I will be at the East Bay Mini Maker Faire on Sunday, October 22nd with my hands-on woodworking booth.
You can try most of the tools pictured here, except for the hatchet. Because... well just because. But I will demonstrate its use with a little spoon carving. Pictured below left is a roughed out spoon and one of my favorite hatchets...
Here is my viking hatchet with a finished spoon far right, and a roughed out spoon near right.
The roughed out spoon was done solely with the hatchet, the finished one had additional work done with various knives and sandpaper... and flax seed oil.
